DuPont Releases Teflon Powder Coating

Sept. 12, 2012
New coating is designed to be applied up to 80 mils.

DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts introduces its Teflon ETFE High Build Top Coat Powder, which is designed to make application easier and provide higher chemical resistance and thermal stability.

Intended for use in the chemical processing industry for parts and equipment such as vessels, columns, agitators and valves, the powder can be used by coaters who require a high-build thickness for a part and need a coating that can easily be applied up to 80 mils (2032 microns).

In addition, the Teflon ETFE High Build Top Coat Powder is more chemically resistant than ECTFE in virtually all classes of compounds at higher temperatures, which offers the end user a higher margin of safety in the event that there are spikes in temperature.

DuPont also offers a choice of both liquid and powder primers which allow applicators an option based on their preference and need and that improves the topcoat’s adhesion to metal surfaces.
