Syclo Teams With SAP to Deliver Mobile Asset and Service Management Solutions

Apr 08, 2009

Syclo, a provider of mobile enterprise platforms and applications, will work with SAP AG to deliver mobile applications that are said to enable maintenance and service technicians access to SAP Business Suite software from a broad range of devices regardless of connectivity. The SAP Business Suite and Syclo’s SMART Mobile Suite are designed for work order execution, operator rounds, time/attendance tracking and materials management.

“The cooperation with Syclo enables our customers to increase the productivity of maintenance and field service technicians by connecting them to SAP Business Suite for work order or service order execution, operator rounds and materials management,” said Dieter Hässlein, vice president, Solution Management for EAM, Sustainability and Mobile, SAP AG. “Syclo was a natural fit for our business because it is a recognized leader with proven mobile solutions for asset management and field service, tightly integrated to SAP Business Suite, and in use today by our customers.”

The SMART Mobile Suite from Syclo was designed to meet the needs of service technicians from plant floor to customer door. It is said to provide remote access to asset management or customer account information including work orders, tasks lists, bill of materials, service orders, spare parts and other customer information located in their SAP ERP and SAP Customer Relationship Management application deployments. Deployed to over 750 customers in 35 countries and 20 different industries, the SMART Mobile Suite contains a library of industry-specific functionalities.

Terasen Gas, a Vancouver-based gas distribution utility, has used the Syclo solution integrated with various SAP applications to produce work orders and submit timesheets and payroll reports, as well as provide two-way, real-time updates on equipment status between field technicians and corporate headquarters.

“Syclo’s mobile applications allowed us to consolidate multiple mobile point solutions into just one platform, which will significantly lower our total cost of ownership," said David Legge, director of information technologies at Terasen Gas. “Besides automated closing, time reporting, incorporated "working-alone" monitoring and eliminated the "cottage industry of reconciliation" which has dramatically improved our costing information, we can now provide our field technicians real-time access to historical and pending work on the assets which in turn allows us to manage our field workforce activities much more effectively."
