Chemical makers are less than optimistic about the UK’s decision to leave the European Union. A survey of delegates at the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) conference indicates that half expect Brexit to have a negative impact on the chemical sector over the next five years, according to an article from PRW.
According to the article, 56% of the 124 industry leaders and government civil servants surveyed were pessimistic about the outcome of UK-EU Brexit negotiations. When asked about the government’s priorities when negotiating the UK’s exit, 60% ranked maintaining free trade with the EU as the highest priority over other choices including access to skills and the burden of regulations.
