The May ISA Economic Indicator Report (EIR) from the Industrial Supply Association showed slower growth for manufacturers and distributors in April. The ISA Manufacturer Index decreased to 55.5 in April from 66.6 in March. Meanwhile, the ISA Distributor Index decreased to 57.5 in April compared to 65.3 in March.
“The results from the May survey showed that economic growth continues for our members, but at a slower pace than last month,” says Bryon Shafer, general manager of ASG Industrial and chair of ISA’s Strategic Information Committee. “As one survey participant noted, companies are still experiencing steady but sluggish market conditions.”
For each index, a reading above 50% indicates expansion, while a reading below 50% indicates contraction.
