Britest Appoints Jenkins CEO

Sept. 26, 2016
Britest will succeed Sue Fleet.

Dr Gareth Jenkins

Britest Limited appoints Dr Gareth Jenkins to CEO. He will assume responsibilities on October 24 and will succeed Sue Fleet who is retiring after 12 years in the role. Gareth joins Britest from AM Technology, where he was COO, director and company secretary for two years. Jenkins' previous positions include PR&D projects director, AMRI Holywell (UK); vice president process research and development, Excelsyn; sales and marketing manager, Peakdale Molecular; and business development manager, Ultrafine. Jenkins holds a Ph.D. and B.S.c. in organic chemistry from Imperial College, London and an MBA from Manchester Business School.

The 'Britest project' began in 1998 as a collaborative research program funded by the UK Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Partners in the project were drawn from a number of leading UK fine chemical / pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions. The aim of the project was to establish radical new process design methodologies that could lead to greater process understanding and drive significant improvements in sustainable manufacturing.

Outputs from this project generated a set of innovative tools and methodologies to analyze product development and manufacturing processes in order to show where and how major improvements could be made.   In 2001, Britest was formally established as a not-for-profit SME company to retain and manage the intellectual property emanating from the project and enable partners to further develop outputs and ensure effective deployment of the tools into their organizations.

Since 2001, Britest has reportedly evolved from a small UK-based company into an international authority on process innovation with members drawn from a diverse range of global industry sectors and academic institutions.
