The German Catalysis Society and the German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Frankfurt, have awarded the 2015 Alwin Mittasch Prize to Robert Schlögl, a director of the Fritz Haber Institute of Max Planck Society, Berlin. He received the award for his contributions to characterizing heterogeneous catalysts and preparing them for industrial application. “His work provides a seminal, new understanding of catalytically active materials, thus opening up the way to more effective development of industrially applicable catalysts in the future,” note the societies.
The award, which is sponsored by BASF, generally is bestowed every three years and includes a €10,000 prize.
