Manufacturing Institute Partners with SOCMA

Sept. 26, 2012
Partnership will focus on expanding the Manufacturing Skills Certification System.

The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) to help address the needs of employers in manufacturing and the need for robust industry partnerships with educational institutions to promote the use of certifications.

The partnership will focus on the expansion of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System, specifically in the aviation sectors. The system is seen as a key step to building the educated and skilled workforce U.S. manufacturers need to successfully compete in the global economy.

The two organizations will work in partnership to reach manufacturers to provide solutions like the Manufacturing Skills Certification System in an effort to fill the talent pool and close the skills gap.

The partnership will also provide opportunities to support the enhancement of the information pipeline about the career possibilities in the manufacturing sector, building on current initiatives like The Manufacturing Institute’s talent recruitment strategy, “Dream It. Do It.”
