The American Chemistry Council (ACC) announced that Walter Moore will join the council as vice president of federal affairs on Feb. 8, 2010. Moore brings with him significant association, corporate, and political experience, working for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry leaders, such as Genentech, Eli Lilly and Co., and Pfizer, as well as the American Hospital Association and various political campaigns.
“I am very excited to have Walter joining our senior team at ACC. He has extensive experience in government affairs, and has worked closely with members of congress and committees that have responsibility for ACC’s priority issues,” says Cal Dooley, president and CEO of ACC. “Walter brings outstanding strategic vision and management skills that will enhance the effectiveness of ACC’s public affairs efforts. He is well-recognized as a non-partisan advocate, and his credibility with members of both political parties reflects the approach we value at ACC. We look forward to the leadership that he will bring on behalf of ACC and our members.”
Moore spent the last 16 years at Genentech, where he was responsible for government relations, often testified before Congress, and led the advocacy initiatives on health and science issues. In addition, from 1990 to 1993, he managed government relations at Eli Lilly, and in the 1980s, he managed government affairs and political activities for Pfizer and the American Hospital Association. Previously, Moore worked at the Federal Election Commission and in the office of Sen. Lloyd Bentsen (D-Texas). He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, and his masters from the University of Texas.
