Samsung to use Pavilion Technologies product in Korea
03/08/2005
Pavilion Technologies has announced that Samsung TOTAL Petrochemicals Co. will deploy Pavilion¹s polymer APC solution on its A-Train polypropylene line at the company¹s Daesan, Korea manufacturing facility. This train is based upon Mitsui¹s Hypol I process technology.
Pavilion¹s solution will enable Samsung Total to increase production, enhance product quality, and reduce variable costs. This marks the fourth major polyolefin producer in the last four months to select Pavilion¹s advanced process control solution.
China is a primary market for Samsung TOTAL¹s Daesan facility, which is strategically located 400 kilometers from China¹s Shandong region. The expected increase in market growth in China, the global demand for new materials, and the rising cost of raw materials make the deployment of APC an industry necessity.
Samsung TOTAL will deploy Pavilion¹s polymer APC application suite to enhance control of the reactor, extruder and transition process. Deployed on every major process technology and on all major catalyst types, Pavilion APC solutions have an unrivaled track record of superior performance.
Based on Pavilion¹s ValueFirst benefits estimate, Samsung TOTAL expects a return on their investment (ROI) within 12 months based on the following primary benefits:
- Improved first pass prime production
- Enhanced prime product consistency, and
- Decreased catalyst, co-monomer consumption.
Pavilion¹s polymer solution has generated production rate increases, quality improvements and reduced transition times across 61 polypropylene and polyethylene lines and more than 80 reactors worldwide.
