MPIF releases free global powder metallurgy property database

08/01/2005

The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has released the Global Powder Metallurgy Property Database, which allows design engineers to find comprehensive property data on powdered metals 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world. The free database provides mechanical and physical properties of ferrous alloys, powder forged steels, stainless steels, nonferrous alloys, and bearing alloys. The data provides performance measures under specific test conditions, including typcial properties with statistical ranges. Key variations in processing conditions are identified, such as sintered, heat-treated, and compaction conditions. The database includes a graphing function with the linear regression equations for the plotted lines, and data can be printed or downloaded to your design package. The data was submitted by industry companies and verified by teams of international experts, who will update and add new information annually. The database can be accessed at www.pmdatabase.com. MPIF is a trade association for the metal powder producing and consuming industries.
