Ethanol expansion is underway

VeraSun Energy LLC, Brookings, S.D., broke ground at its 252-acre site in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Sept. 18 where the company will construct a grassroots 110-million-gal.-per-year ethanol plant. It is scheduled to be online in early 2006 and will process 40 million bushels of corn.

The facility will be one of the largest dry-grind ethanol plants in the United States. It will also produce 352,000 tons of distillers grain annually, enough to feed 660,000 head of cattle daily.
