I have always been told that dynamic balancing is not as critical on impellers because as soon as the impeller is loaded, the water causes hydraulic imbalance. We have always balanced them down to NEMA standards anyway, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Re: Is dynamic balancing important?
24 January 2012 at 1:29pmFor a conclusive answer to that, all you need to do is to put an impeller well out of dynamic balance and watch what happens. The pump vibration will be excessive!
The larger the impeller size is, and the faster its rotation, the more important becomes the dynamic balancing.
