We have an oxygen plant that produces liquid oxygen and separates it from nitrogen by distillation. All of these processes are inside a box that is called a cold box. When the consumer plant had a shutdown, an explosion happened in the cold box. Can help me to find the reason of the explosion or lead me to experts in the field?
Have an insight or suggestion?

Re: Oxygen expolsion cause
25 June 2007 at 1:29pmThere is hardly any information here. Oxygen is obviously highly reactive, and certainly has the potential to react with many contaminants which may have been in the system. I would start by contacting the oxygen supplier for recommendations on an expert who could help in the investigation, or, if the facility has its own oxygen plant, talk to the supplier of the technology. The note appears to come from India, perhaps there is some kind of a trade association of oxygen or gas manufacturers there which would be able to help to find a contact.
