I am designing a pitched blade reactor with liquid volume of 18 liters, reactor diameter 28cm and RPM of 400 for esterification of oils. Now my question is how to design a reactor with these specificaitons to maintain mixing in turbulent zone?
Have an insight or suggestion?

Re: Designing a pitched blade reactor
2 August 2006 at 1:29pmMy recommendatation for this application is two (2) pitched-blade turbines about 12.5 cm in diameter. The lower turbine should be about 8 cm from the bottom and the upper one about 20 cm from the bottom. The viscosity should remain below 5 cp for fully turbulent conditions. The tank needs baffles, 4 vertical plates about 2.5 cm wide.
