We are currently mixing and sonicating a colloid in a vessel using small quantities (about 4kg). What are the key parameters when scaling up this process?

Re: What are the key parameters when scaling up sonication?
24 April 2012 at 1:29pmI am not sure that I know the answer to this question, in part because I don't know of a reference. However, I would expect that the frequency and power per volume for sonication should be held constant. I think you want the frequency and energy input to remain constant. Whether local intensities are different in two scales will depend on the geometry of the sonicator and the sound sources.
