I suggest Derek Purchas and Richard Wakeman's text entitled "Solid/Liquid Separation Equipment Scale-Up," published jointly by Uplands Press and Filtration Specialists. This was first published in 1977. I have the second edition, which was published in 1986. I believe there is a third edition. Now you may think that Upland Press is an obscure reference, but they also publish Filtration and Separation magazine. It starts out with an organization chart for separation equipment and walks though the procedures. I have an expert system that mimics the book. A version is now sold by Aspen Tech, but mine has several refinements.
