What are the main differences between vacuum belt filters and ceramic disc filters in terms of capital and operational costs?
Have an insight or suggestion?

The ceramic disc filter has many advantages including better filtrate quality, somewhat drier cake, less floor space, and much lower horsepower,(i.e., less air leakage so vacuum better).
Their operating costs are lower but they are much more expensive -- hence, not too often used in lieu of vacuum belt filters. Vacuum belt filters offer one key advantage: cake washing, since it is horizontal (Provided, of course, cake washing is required in your application). Filter cloths need replacement every 6 months or so, which is an added cost to consider.
