We have an ilmenite beneficiation plant, in which Fe203 is reduced to Fe0 in a rotary kiln. I want to know how to calculate residence time in the kiln (as per our ocp of 150 mins) that is 30 m in length.
Have an insight or suggestion?

Re: Calculating kiln residence time
19 September 2006 at 1:29pmResidence time in the kiln will not be easily calculated unless you have data that indicates the hold-up in the unit. These units are typically designed with baffles to afford additional hold-up, and this data coupled with angle of repose data for the solids being handled will allow an estimation of the residence time. The calculation is straightforward once you know what the total rotary kiln holdup is (holdup/rate).
