I am designing a syngas cooler. The gas is at 400 deg C, and I want to prevent boiling of the cooling water, but still maintain a low pressure drop across the cooling water side. Do you have any hints for me?

Re: How do I prevent the cooling water from boiling?27 October 2009 at 1:29pmI would suggest providing sufficient velocity to maintain the water side wall temperature below about 60-70 °C. Typically this type of an application would be generating steam from properly treated boiler feed water.
