I am considering heating a copper plate with a food-grade, heat transfer fluid, but am having trouble finding data about heat transfer coefficients. What is the heat transfer coefficient (W/m2K) between a turbulent oil flow and a copper plate?
Have an insight or suggestion?

Re: Heat transfer coefficients
24 October 2007 at 1:29pmIn order to determine the heat transfer coefficient you must define the geometry and flow rate of the oil. The oil side heat transfer coefficient can be calculated by utilizing an appropriate correlation for the geometry of choice. Convective heat transfer to a plate is covered in Chapter 2 of Process Heat Transfer by Hewitt, Shires and Bott.
