Re: How can we increase the rate of vacuum distillation?26 August 2014 at 9:55am
Increasing, not decreasing, the pressure is the way to go.
As another alternative, the internals in the 4-inch column could be changed out or modified. However, it might not be possible to change out the internals in the 4 inch column. If it is possible, a higher capacity packing could be employed.
We are performing vacuum distillation in water solvent. However, we get constant distillation but rate is too slow nearly 20 ltrs/hr. How can we increase rate? Also note that with more vacuum we face flooding.size of column: 4"nature of the internals: herbal extractconstituent being separated from water: several dissolve in water;Operating conditions:temp range 75 to 85 c.Press range 350 to 450 torrheating media electric heater of 12 kwHeat transfer media waterjacketed vessel of capacity 500 liters
