We have a rubber-lined vessel for a scrubber tank. We have found that in some instances the rubber lining needs to be replaced after only two months. We have observed serious damage on the lining and have not been able to find out the cause for this. We are spraying sulfuric acid via nozzle and solution contains sulfur, zinc dust and ammonia solution.

Re: What is causing the damage to the rubber lining in our scrubber tank?
11 April 2012 at 1:29pmTo make an assessment of compatibility, details regarding the conditions (concentrations, temperatures, presence of impurities, etc.) and the species present must be known. The formulation of the rubber can have a significant impact on performance so careful material selection is required to achieve satisfactory results. Depending on the specific problems you are having, a different rubber, coating, or material of construction may need to be considered.
