I am looking for a material of construction suitable for an industrial decanter centrifuge. The feed contains mixed sulfate and chloride crystals in a solution containing 2% free HCl. Operating temperature would be about 80° C. Ideal material would be corrosion and abrasion resistant, with high structural strength (to withstand about 3000 g). It must also be possible to spin cast the material.
Have an insight or suggestion?

Re: Are there materials of construction suitable for spin casting?
15 June 2009 at 1:29pmNormally, for processes containing chlorides and 2% HCl at 80° C, I would suggest a nickel-based alloy like N06022, N10276, or N06200. Casting would require using a cast equivalent version. However, I do not believe any of these HCl resistant alloys commonly used in the chemical industry are suitable for spin casting since they melt at high temperatures. Good luck in your search.
