How can we increase the speed of an electric motor?

Q: How can we increase the speed of an electric motor by a VFD system supplying energy to a pump? Suppose the motor power is sufficient enough to prevent overloading the motor?

A:

The VFD will indicate what the frequency range is capable of, often up to 50% above supply line frequency.  If the motor is rated for use with an inverter for the speed range required, and the power capability of the motor will not be exceeded, the VFD and motor should be suitable.
