Planning the Perfect Mixing Tank
Q: We are planning a mixing tank for making a uniform solution.
It is heat transfer activity. The density is 1,200 kg/m3 and viscosity of 35,000 cps. It is a thick solution with no solid particles. The jacketed tank has an internal diameter of 1,800 mm and tank shell length is 2,000 mm. The bottom and top of the tank have torispherical dished ends. What is the right type of mixture, its geometry and motor?
A:
I would recommend an angled anchor impeller similar to the one shown in Figure 1. The impeller should be 1,700 mm in diameter with a height of 1,700 mm. The mixer should rotate at 30 rpm and will require a 22.8 kW motor.
