Is there any relationship between the pipeline size and compressor rating in scm?

Q: To select compressors for pipeline filling and drying during commissioning operations, is there any relationship between the pipeline size and compressor rating in scm?

A: To just answer the question, the answer is yes. The larger the compressor relative to the volume of the line being filled the shorter the fill time. Also considered is a positive displacement compressor has a different fill rate as compared to a centrifugal compressor. The positive displacement has a nearly a constant volume output. The centrifugal at the start point will have a greater volume as the pipe line fills and moves back on the curve as the pressure rises.
