Solutia has five businesses that produce chemicals used in a variety of applications, including laminated glass and rubber products and specialty products such as aviation hydraulic fluid and heat transfer fluid. The company's materials are used primarily in the construction, transportation and manufacturing markets. Solutia's sales have grown by more than 50% -- or about $1.3 billion -- over the past four years. The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008 Solutia is based in St. Louis and has more than 60 locations across five continents. More than 55% of its sales come from outside the United States. The company operates globally with approximately 6,000 employees in more than 60 locations.

Jeffry Quinn
chairman, president and chief executive officer
Quinn has led Solutia’s reorganization, culminating in the company’s February 2008 emergence from Chapter 11. Under his leadership, the company has strengthened its portfolio of high-potential businesses, enhanced performance through the his Operational Excellence Initiative and improved financial results. Both revenues and earnings have increased significantly during each year of his tenure. He has restructured the company’s leadership team and led a broader reorganization of the management and organizational structure, infusing new talent and also elevating the role of strategic planning. Quinn joined Solutia in January 2003 as senior vice president and general counsel. In May 2004 he was named president and CEO. The role of chairman was added to Quinn's responsibilities in February 2006. Prior to joining Solutia, Quinn was executive vice president of Premcor Inc., one of the nation’s largest independent oil refiners.
James Sullivan
senior vice president and chief financial officer
Sullivan is responsible for all aspects of Solutia’s financial related activities including controllership, internal audit, investor relations, tax, treasury, risk management, credit and collections and acquisitions and divestitures. Before he was named to his current position in May 2004, Sullivan served in several other financial leadership roles for Solutia, including vice president and controller, director of financial reporting and analysis, and general auditor. He joined the company in 1983 in a controllership training program and advanced through a variety of accounting and analysis roles with the company and its subsidiaries. Beginning in the 1990s, he served in a number of increasingly responsible finance positions at the former Carondelet plant in St. Louis, and later at headquarters.
Robert DeBolt
senior vice president of business operations
DeBolt is responsible for leading development of corporate strategies, as well as driving implementation of the chairman’s Operational Excellence Initiative. he also has enterprisewide responsibility for key support functions including procurement, information technology, and environment, safety and health. DeBolt previously served as vice president of strategy, applying some 25 years of experience and broad knowledge of Solutia’s business portfolio, guiding the creation of strategies for each business and developing processes to ensure the company realizes the potential value identified in the new strategies. DeBolt joined the company in 1982 as a cost accountant at a former plant located in Nitro, W.Va.

Solutia's products include Saflex interlayer for laminated glass, CPFilms aftermarket window films sold under the LLumar brand and others, and technical specialties including the Flexsys family of chemicals for the rubber industry, Skydrol aviation hydraulic fluid and Therminol heat transfer fluid. is found in nearly 50 percent of laminated architectural and automotive glass applications worldwide. Saflex is used to protect some of the world’s most precious treasures including the U.S. Constitution, the Mona Lisa and the Louvre. One of the many chemicals produced by Solutia is adipic acid, which is a white crystalline powder predominantly used to produce nylon 6,6 polymer for fibers and plastics. Food grade adipic acid is used in gelatins to promote rapid setting, provide tartness and protect against quality loss. It is also used in beverages, condiments, relishes, dairy product analogs, fats and oils, frozen dairy desserts, puddings, gravies, meat products and snack foods.
