Company Information
P&G began producing chemicals in 1837 when the company started making candles using stearic acid and reselling red oil as a co-product. The company has a long history of investments in the oleochemicals market, including the company’s first branded product, Star Glycerin, in 1858. P&G’s chemicals division has manufacturing operations in Asia, Europe and North America. Corporatewide, P&G employs more than 138,000 workers in over 80 countries. What began as a small, family-operated soap and candle company now provides products and services to consumers in more than180 countries. Revenues topped $83 billion in 2007for the world’s No. 1 provider of household products.

A.G. Lafley
chairman of the board
Lafley became chairman of the board in 2002 and was elected CEO in 2000. In 2009 he dropped the CEO title, but remains chairman of the board. He joined P&G in 1977 in the marketing division and held a variety of positions in the company’s laundry and cleaning division until being named group vice president in 1992. He was named with responsibility for Asia in 1995. Four years later he was named president of the company’s beauty care division and the North American market development organization. Under Lafley’s leadership P&G made several major acquisitions including Gillette, Clairol and Wella.
Robert McDonald
president and CEO
McDonald joined P&G in 1980 as a brand assistant. He became COO in 2007 after serving as vice chairman of global operations for three years. In 2009 he was elected president and CEO.
Jon R. Moeller
CFO
Moeller arrived at P&G in 1988 as a cost analyst for food products. He was named Vice President-Finance & Accounting, Global Beauty Care in 2005, and then Vice President & Treasurer in 2007. He assumed the role of CFO in 2009.

Products
P&G’s chemicals products include fatty alcohols, methyl esters, fatty acids, alcohol ethoxylates, glycerine, AGS, amines, sefose and food ingredients. Fatty alcohols are used for surfactant production, personal care and pharmaceutical applications, and agricultural, petroleum ,and wood treatment industries.
