Company Information
In 1883, Captain John B. Ford and John Pitcairn established the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company (PPG). They set up shop in Creighton, Pa., along the Allegheny River about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. In the early 1900s the company acquired the Patton Paint Company in Milwaukee. During this time, PPG also acquired the Columbia Chemical Co. in Barberton, Ohio, to ensure a supply of soda ash necessary to manufacture glass.
Today, PPG has manufacturing facilities and equity affiliates in more than 60 countries around the globe and provides coatings and specialty products and services to customers construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets.

Charles Bunch

Bunch, has been a director of PPG since 2002, according to Reuters. He was president and chief operating officer of PPG from July 2002 until he was elected president and CEO in March 2005 and chairman and CEO in July 2005. Before becoming president and COOr, he was executive vice president of PPG from 2000 to 2002 and senior Vice president of strategic planning and corporate services of PPG from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Bunch is also a director of the H. J. Heinz Co. and The PNC Financial Services Group Inc.
William Hernandez
senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer
Hernandez has served as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer of PPG Industries since January 1995, according to Reuters. He has also held the position of treasurer from April 2007 to January 2008.
Maurice Peconi
vice president of corporate development and services
Peconi was named vice president of corporate development and services in April 2005 after serving as vice president of corporate development. In addition to corporate development and information technology responsibilities, Peconi oversees purchasing and distribution; corporate marketing and communications; and quality. Peconi joined PPG in 1972 as a programmer and became corporate economist in 1983. He was named manager of corporate planning services in 1984, director of corporate investments in 1988, general manager of aircraft special products in 1989 and general manager of flat glass products in 1994. Peconi was named general manager of architectural coatings in 1995 and elected vice president of architectural coatings in 1997. He was elected vice president of electronic commerce in 2000.
