Nova Chemicals beginnings date back more than 50 years ago in southeastern Alberta, Canada, as The Alberta Gas Trunk Line Co. On July 2, 1998, NOVA Chemicals Corp. was launched as an independent, publicly traded chemical company. The company is incorporated in Canada with executive offices in Pittsburgh and is listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges as NCX. Today, Nova Chemicals produces plastics and chemicals that are essential to everyday life. Its current businesses and joint ventures focus on two product chains: ethylene and polyethylene and styrene and polystyrene. The company develops value-added products and technology for customers worldwide that produce consumer, industrial and packaging products.

Jeffrey R. Lipton
Director and Chief Executive Officer
Jeffrey R. Lipton joined Nova in 1994 as senior vice president and chief financial officer and assumed his current position as chief executive officer of NOVA Chemicals July 1, 1998. Lipton serves as a director of United States Steel Corp., a director of Hercules Inc., a director of the American Chemistry Council and a director of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
Christopher D. Pappas
Director, President and Chief Operating Officer
Pappas joined Nova Chemicals as senior vice president, Styrenics, in July of 2000, and assumed his current role in January 2008.On Dec. 8, 2008, Nova announced that Pappas will take over as CEO effective May 1, 2009 when current CEO Jeffrey Lipton retires. Pappas was president and CEO of Paint and Coatings.com prior to joining Nova.
Lawrence MacDonald
Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President
Lawrence MacDonald joined Nova Corp. of Alberta in 1979 as controller, according to Reuters. He advanced through several financial, information technology, and merger and acquisition positions within Nova Corp. and Nova Corp. of Alberta before assuming the role of senior vice president of Manufacturing East in 1999. He began his current role in December 2001.
