Based in Findlay, Ohio, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC), together with its subsidiaries, including Marathon Petroleum Company LP, Speedway LLC and MPLX LP, is one of the largest petroleum product refiners, marketers and transporters in the United States.
MPC is the nation’s fourth-largest refiner and the largest refiner in the Midwest. MPC’s refining, marketing and transportation operations are concentrated primarily in the Midwest, Gulf Coast and Southeast regions of the U.S.
MPC operations are strategically located to serve major markets. They include a seven-plant refining network, a comprehensive terminal and transportation system, and extensive wholesale and retail marketing operations. This includes both the Marathon Brand and MPC’s wholly owned retail marketing subsidiary, Speedway LLC, the nation’s fourth-largest chain of company-owned and operated retail gasoline and convenience stores.
Gary R. Heminger
President and CEO
Heminger has served in a variety of capacities in his more than 38 years with Marathon. In addition to five years in various financial and administrative roles, he spent three years in London as part of the Brae Project, and held several marketing and commercial roles with the predecessor of Speedway LLC. He also served as president of Marathon Pipe Line Co. Heminger was named vice president of Business Development for Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC upon its formation in January 1998, senior vice president in 1999 and executive vice president in 2001. Heminger was appointed president of Marathon Petroleum Company LLC in September 2001 and executive vice president - Downstream of Marathon Oil Corp. He assumed his current position in July 2011.
Donald C. Templin
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Templin began his career with Marathon Petroleum Corp. in June 2011. Prior to this, he was the managing partner of the Audit Practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee from 2009 to 2011. While at PwC, he had more than 25 years of experience providing auditing and advisory services to a wide variety of private, public and multinational companies. He formerly served as the Managing Partner of PwC’s practice in Kazakhstan and also participated in the International Service Program in PwC’s World Office in London, England.
Richard D. Bedell
Senior Vice President, Refining
Since joining the company in 1979, Bedell has held numerous refining departmental management positions with increasing responsibilities at the Garyville, La; Texas City, Texas; and Detroit refineries before being named Texas Refining Division manager in 1995. In 2001, he was named Illinois Refining Division manager. Later that same year, he became Louisiana Refining Division manager. Bedell was named senior vice president, Refining, in June 2010. Bedell currently serves on the board of directors of the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, and is chairman of the API Refining Subcommittee.
