Last week, Khalid Aldawsari was convicted by a federal jury of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. As previously reported, Aldawsari is the Saudi college student arrested in February 2011 after law enforcement officials were tipped off by a chemical supplier and shipping company he attempted to use to obtain dangerous chemicals to build a bomb. Both the supplier and shipping company identified Aldawsari’s order as suspicious and immediately reported it to law enforcement officials. Aldawsari will be sentenced in October. He faces up to life in prison.
This case demonstrates the importance of remaining vigilant and appropriately reporting activities that are suspicious or out of the ordinary. Security is everyone’s responsibility. Remember, if you see any suspicious activity, report it …. if you see something, say something!
