DHS Publishes Ammonium Nitrate NPRM

This week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for an Ammonium Nitrate Security Program that would regulate the sale and transfer of ammonium nitrate, which is also a Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Chemical of Interest (COI).

Last week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a report warning  major utilities and critical infrastructure operators, such as chemical plants and oil refineries, that “violent extremists” have obtained insider positions and might use those positions to conduct physical and cyber attacks on behalf of Al Qaeda.

Chemical Sector Security Summit Kicks Off in Baltimore

I’m excited to report that the 2011 Chemical Sector Security Summit, co-funded by DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and SOCMA (Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates), got kicked off in Baltimore this morning with the highest attendance in the event’s 5-year history.

DHS Issues Personnel Surety Program Information Collection Request (ICR) Notice

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published its third Information Collection Request (ICR) Notice in the Federal Register describing requirements for the submission of information to the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) in accordance with the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Personnel Surety Program (PSP).
