HTRI has conducted extensive testing on a spiral-spiral single-phase flow unit for a wide range of Reynolds (6.5 to 74,000) and Prandtl (3.8 to 2260) numbers. These data were used to evaluate open literature and HTRI methods.

As of June 2005, almost 480 PIP Practices in all eight disciplines had been published. Around 560 total Practices are targeted for publication and maintenance. The Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA) discipline makes up 43 of the total PIP Practices.
Sensors now can provide data on both general and localized corrosion that allow corrosion to be treated as a real-time process variable. Using such data effectively can play an important role in optimizing plant operations.

Several major vendors have now announced plans to fully support enhancements to the electronic device description language (EDDL) used by HART devices, reports Ed Ladd of the HART Communication Foundation. These enhancements will allow users to interact with their intelligent devices in new ways. They ease configuration, even of complex instruments, and support storage of historical data for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
