Keep E-Mail Communication Lines Open

"Whitelisting" can ensure you get e-newsletters you really want.

There's nothing more frustrating than chatting with a co-worker, client or reader who has sent you an e-mail with information regarding time-sensitive issues that you can't find in your e-mail inbox. After a fruitless search, you decide to wade through the mounds of messages in your spam folder and sure enough, said e-mail is hanging out with all the unsavory correspondence. It's the same way with e-newsletters. Chemical Processing sends out its e-newsletters on a regular schedule. If you're not receiving them as you should, help is on the way.

To assist you in moving those e-mails on the right side of the tracks, we've gathered tips from around the web for how you can "whitelist" (ensure e-mail delivery) ChemicalProcessing.com e-blasts for Outlook 2003, Yahoo, and Gmail. 

Outlook 2003
Add ChemicalProcessing.com's "From" address — we use mrosenzweig@putmannews.com for most newsletters; however, we also use  chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com to deliver surveys and other magazine-related updates — to your Safe Senders list:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Preferences tab, click Junk E-mail.
3. On the Safe Senders tab, click Add.
4. In the Add address, put mrosenzweig@putmannews.com or chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com
5. Click OK.

Yahoo
New Subscribers:
You'll want to set up a filter to redirect our newsletters into your e-mail inbox:
1. Open your mailbox and click on Mail Options (upper right hand corner).
2. Select Filters.
3. Click Add link on the Filters page.
4. Update the "From header" rule with these two pieces of information: "contains" and mrosenzweig@putmannews.com. Repeat the step with "contains" and chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com.
5. Click the Choose Folder pull down menu and select inbox.
6. Pick the Add Filter button.

Existing Subscribers:
If any of ChemicalProcessing.com's newsletters or e-blasts are getting stuck in your Yahoo Bulk Folder, please open the e-mail and click the "Not Spam" button. You can also check to see if the newsletter's email address is in your "Blocked Addresses" list. If you see mrosenzweig@putmannews.com or chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com on this list, select it and click the Remove Block button. The last step of the process is to set up a filter as shown above.

Gmail
New Subscribers
Please add our "From" address, mrosenzweig@putmannews.com or chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com, to your Gmail Contacts List:
1. Click Contacts along the left side of any Gmail page.
2. Click Add Contact.
3. Copy and paste our "From" address, mrosenzweig@putmannews.com or chemicalprocessing@putmannews.com into the primary e-mail address dialog box.
4. Click Save.

Existing Subscribers
How to check if our newsletter is in the "spam" folder:
1. Click "Spam" along the left side of any Gmail page.
2. Checkmark the box next to our newsletter.
